November 13, 2008.

  • In 2008 and 2009 OIUM members sponsored and organized two archaeological expeditions to the “Moldovan Stonehenge” near the village of Caplani (Part 1; Part 2 )and one to the village of Budesti near Kishinev.
  • In collaboration with the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova OIUM members performed extensive scientific and bibliographic research into the origin of winemaking and viticulture and found substantial evidence for the claim that the Lower Dniester is one of the most ancient winemaking areas of the world, as well as the origin of the cult of Dionysus.
  • Members of OIUM sponsored the archaeological survey of the adjacent villages to river Dniester in Ștefan Vodă District, Moldavia (Talmaza,Cioburciu, Răscăieţi, Viişoara, Purcari)
  • The documentary film studio, OIUM FILMS working on donated equipment and with donated time, and effort of the members of OIUM has filmed, edited, dubbed and released numerous short and medium-length documentaries in 2008 - 2016 (see the corresponding links of this web page for details).
  • Members of OIUM actively participated in preparation and celebration of 145th anniversary of village Alava, and donated over 200 books to the local library.2009
  • Members of OIUM in collaboration with Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova - initiated foundation of THE OIUM MUSEUM located in Stefan Voda Lyceum. (2010 - present)
  • Members of OIUM sponsored an archaeological dig in the vicinity of the village of Mologa, Ukraine in 2009. OIUM Films created a documentary about this expedition.
  • Members of OIUM provided travel grants and grants-in-aid to the members of the academic faculty of the Institute for Cultural Heritage to facilitate attendance of a regional and international scientific conferences 2009 - 2018.
  • Members of OIUM actively participates in the organization of other festivities in district of Stefan Voda, the Moldovan Birthplace of Dionysus.
  •  Members of OIUM in collaboration with Moldovan Academy of Science, The National Museum of History of Moldova (Ministry of Culture of Moldova), Harvard University and Grand Valley State University from Michigan, USA established a joint project for Geo-Genetical research on ancient DNA bone samples of the various Late Tripillian archaeological groups from Moldova in April 2019 aiming to discover the Roots of Europe and most approximate place of origin of the Indo-European language family
  • Members of OIUM sponsored and participated in 2019 summer field archaeological season of 6 Transnistrean area kurgans
  • Since 2016 OIUM members established regular collaboration with various European and American research archaeology-genetical centers and scientists to help Moldovan scientists analyzed and dated archaeological samples for various research projects
  • Members of OIUM in the COVID-19 pandemic in spring 2020 distributed financial support for several archaeologists because on the both sides of the river Moldovan Academia as a entity and  Archaeological Laboratory of Transnistrian University was dissolved by both governments of the both Dniester river sides and for several months all scientists  was unemployed.
  • Members of OIUM distributed field research grant for the 2020 summer field archaeological season to Transnistrian scientists

Achievements and goals

  • With an unrestricted research grant from members OIUM has purchased a two-level building in Stefan Voda, where we building a cultural and historical Museum of the Lower Dniester region, with a special emphasis on the origins of winemaking in the region and spread of wine-centric culture throughout Europe and the World. 2008
  • Cultural and Historical Olympics of 2008 (an educational activity and competition for senior students) was sponsored and organized together with the Lyceum in Stefan Voda. More than 30 young participants competed in academic fields of culturology, history and archaeology for the prizes donated by the members of OIUM.
  • To further the agenda of development of the cultural traditions, peaceful coexistence of cultures and nations and to celebrate the day of Moldovan Independence, members of OIUM sponsored and organized a presentation of OIUM FILMS during the festivities of August 31, 2008 to the captive audience of more than 10 thousand people that gathered on the central square and park of the city of Stefan Voda, Moldavia.
  • A series of public lectures on the cultural significance of the archaeological finds, awareness of the need for proper approach to potential finds and regarding preservation of the historical past were presented in the villages throughout the region, to minimize the potential for contamination of spontaneous finds by the population.
  • In collaboration with Academy of Science, Institute for Cultural Heritage and in partnership with Museum and National Preservation Site "Old Orhei", and Winemaker "Vinaria Purcari" members of OIUM sponsored and actively participated in archaelogical dig of the tumulus number 7 near Purcari resulted to discovery of burrial of the prominent Skythian noblemen.
  • Members of OIUM plans to present and sponsor scientific research, cultural conferences and educational activities.
  • Members of OIUM published scientific research about origin of wine cult in Late Neolithic Age in Lower Dniester area: published in The Proceedings of Indo-European Conference ( Moscow, 2010); two books published in Russian and Romanian by publishing house "Lyceum"
  • OIUM members sponsored publication of scientific book "Kurgans of the right site shore of the Dniester Estuary near village Mologa" published in 2018 by Odessa Archaeological Museum
  • In 2017 Society OIUM established collaboration with Moldovan Historical -Geographical Society and actively participating in research, media and other public activities
  • OIUM members took part of the on going publishing and research of the encyclopedic Historical Published Maps of Moldova Project which for the first time in history would show the earliest picture of the Dniester River shown the on Babylonian Map from British Museum
  • Members of OIUM sponsored in October 2018 a big presentation event in Austria of Moldovan Consulate of The European Knighthood of Vine in which for the first time Moldova claimed this 3525 Anniversary of Discovery of Wine by Dionysus ( look on 1:13 - 1:23 minute of this video ) who by the many evidences used to live in the Moldovan territory. This presentation was in two Austrian news channels and seen on TV by millions of Austrian spectators. The Event (please look at the archives video - VivatVinum Okt 2018 - Stiftungsfest der Europäischen Weinritterschaft) participated by Karl of Austria who is a President of The Blue Shield, formerly the International Committee of the Blue Shield, Archduke Ferdinand and the Hapsburg Royal House family members
